Consumer Guarantees
& Warranty Information

At Compass Forklifts, we are committed to providing reliable equipment and transparent service. This page explains your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and how our additional warranties operate.

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

Mandatory ACL Statement: You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Depending on the product or service and the nature of the problem, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund, cancellation, or other remedy as defined by the ACL.

Compass Forklifts provides specific warranties on certain products and services, and many of our new products also carry a Manufacturer’s Warranty.

  • Additional Protection: Any Compass Forklifts warranty or manufacturer warranty is additional to your consumer rights. It does not replace, limit, or exclude them.
  • New Equipment: Warranty periods and terms are defined by the specific manufacturer.
  • Servicing & Repairs: We warrant our workmanship and parts used during repairs for a specified period, provided the equipment is maintained and used correctly.

To ensure safety and the longevity of your equipment, warranty coverage and consumer guarantees are often dependent on appropriate use. This includes:

  • Maintenance: Compliance with factory-recommended service intervals.
  • Usage: Operation within rated capacities, specified load centres, and lift heights.
  • Environment: Use within suitable site conditions (e.g., appropriate gradients, surfaces, and ventilation).
  • Authorisation: Ensuring no unauthorised modifications or third-party repairs have been performed.

For used forklifts and equipment, warranty terms vary based on the age, hours, and condition of the unit. All warranty terms for used equipment must be confirmed in writing for the specific unit being purchased at the time of sale.

For equipment under hire or lease, the responsibilities for ongoing support, routine servicing, and “fair wear and tear” are governed by your individual Master Hire Agreement. Please refer to your agreement for specific exclusions and maintenance obligations.
