The hire period commences when the equipment leaves our depot and ends when it is returned or collected. Any extensions must be requested in writing and are subject to availability.
While Compass Forklifts manages transport, the risk of loss or damage passes to the Hirer upon delivery to the site. The Hirer is responsible for providing safe and clear site access for delivery and collection.
The Hirer must ensure that all operators hold the appropriate High Risk Work (LF or LO) licenses. Equipment must only be used for its intended purpose and within its rated capacity.
The Hirer is responsible for daily “pre-start” checks (including water, oil, and tyre pressure). Any mechanical faults or breakdowns must be reported to Compass Forklifts immediately. Do not attempt unauthorised repairs.
“Fair wear and tear” is included in the hire rate. However, the Hirer is liable for:
Equipment must be returned in a clean and functional state. Compass Forklifts reserves the right to charge for “off-hire” cleaning or unrecoverable damage. Overdue equipment will continue to accrue daily hire charges until recovered.
